There are few places in Belfast where the weight of history sits quite so heavily — or so beautifully — as at the Thompson Dock in the Titanic Quarter. On 24th July 2024, Belfast Whiskey Week brought guests to the Pumphouse for the Titanic Distillers Signature Tour, one of the festival's most enduring and beloved experiences. It was, as ever, a morning or afternoon well spent.

About This Event

Book in for a Signature Tour in one of Belfast's Historic buildings. Take time to Visit Titanic Distillers at the Pumphouse in the Titanic Quarter; minutes from the City Centre. Having opened in 2023, Titanic has welcomed thousands of guests to experience a fantastic distillery and truly wonderful visitor and tourist attraction.

Looking Back

Titanic Distillers holds a singular place in this city's story. As Belfast's first working whiskey distillery in almost ninety years, it carries a quiet but profound responsibility — to honour the duchas of Irish distilling while planting its flag firmly in the present. The Pumphouse on Queens Road is its home, a Victorian industrial building that once served the very dock where RMS Titanic was floated out for the first time. That sense of place, that tir, runs through everything Titanic Distillers does, and the Signature Tour made full use of it.

Guests who joined the tour on 24th July were welcomed into a space that manages the rare trick of feeling both monumental and intimate. The distillery is compact enough that every corner holds meaning — the stills gleaming under industrial lighting, the casks resting in quiet anticipation, the whole operation visible and legible to the curious visitor. Guides walked the group through the production process with genuine enthusiasm, explaining the choices behind Titanic's approach to Irish whiskey without ever making it feel like a lecture. This is seanchas worth hearing: a new chapter in a very old tradition.

The specialist tasting element of the Signature Tour was where things truly opened up. Attendees had the chance to nose and taste their way through Titanic's current expressions, with the kind of guided conversation that helps even a newcomer find their footing. At £25, this was honest value — not a cursory dram and a handshake, but a considered, unhurried experience. Those who wanted to explore the wider Titanic Distillers range further could browse the full Titanic Distillers collection ahead of or after the visit.

It's worth noting just how central Titanic Distillers has become to the fabric of Belfast Whiskey Week itself. Across the 2024 festival, the distillery hosted multiple Signature Tours — including earlier sessions on 19th July — alongside evening events, cocktail sessions, pub takeovers at Bittles and Maddens, and a prominent presence at the Whiskey Expo. That kind of commitment shapes the whole festival. For visitors making their first trip to Belfast, a stop at the Pumphouse was, and remains, essential — a distillery that earns its place on every whiskey map of the city.

The TT24A Signature Tour was, in the end, exactly what the best Belfast Whiskey Week events should be: rooted in place, generous in spirit, and honest about what uisce beatha means to this city. Sláinte mhaith to everyone who came through those doors.
