Festival logistics

Getting around Belfast Whiskey Week

Nine days, twenty-plus venues, one walkable city. Here's how to get between drams — on foot, by Glider, by train, or in the back of a taxi telling the driver about your new favourite whiskey.

Getting between drams

Walk it

The festival is built for feet. Almost every venue sits in the city centre cluster — Cathedral Quarter, the city core and Sailortown — and most hops are 15 minutes or less. The longest common walk (Duke of York to Seatons of Sailortown) is a pleasant quarter of an hour along the river.

Most venues: under 15 min apart

The Glider

Belfast's purple rapid-transit buses run east–west across the city (G1) and to the Titanic Quarter (G2), with stops through the city centre. Frequent, cheap, and runs late enough for an evening tasting. Buy tickets at the halt machines or contactless on board.

G1 & G2 · every 7–10 min

Trains & the Enterprise

Belfast Grand Central Station is right beside the Europa Hotel — literally next door to the EXPO. Coming up from Dublin? The Enterprise lands you there too, which makes an EXPO day-trip from Dublin genuinely easy. Lanyon Place station is a 15-minute walk from the Cathedral Quarter.

Grand Central → EXPO: 2 min walk

Metro buses

Translink Metro routes fan out from City Hall to every corner of the city — handy if you're staying outside the centre. Night services run on weekends; check Translink's journey planner for your route home.

Taxis

Value Cabs (028 9080 9080) and fonaCAB (028 9033 3333) both run app bookings and cover the whole city. There are ranks at City Hall and Great Victoria Street. After a tasting, this is the correct answer.

Book by app — festival nights get busy

Parking (but honestly, don't drive)

If you must: Q-Park Victoria Square and the Cathedral Quarter car parks are closest to the action, and most city car parks run evening flat rates. But this is a whiskey festival — leave the car at home or at the hotel, and let Translink or a taxi do the work.
