Whiskey Lunch: Three Plates, Three Drams with Glens of Antrim — Sunday 26 July
Whiskey Lunch: Three Plates, Three Drams
Ease into the first Sunday of the festival the Belfast way — a relaxed whiskey lunch in one of the city’s great old pubs, with the glens of Antrim in your glass.
The Morning Star has been feeding Belfast from its perch above Pottinger’s Entry since the 1800s — a proper Victorian pub up a cobbled entry off Ann Street, with a kitchen that takes Ulster produce every bit as seriously as its whiskey shelf. For Belfast Whiskey Week it sets the table for our favourite lunchtime ritual: three small plates from that kitchen, each one matched to a dram.
Sunday’s drams belong to Glens of Antrim Distillery. The McKillop family have deep roots in the glens, and their award-winning whiskies carry the character of the North Coast in every pour. You’ll taste three of them across the lunch — including a wee taste of their own make, the spirit that signals where this distillery is headed.
