There's something fitting about a Dublin distillery crossing the sheugh to join Belfast Whiskey Week — and in July 2021, Teeling did exactly that in fine style. Session 84 was a full showcase tasting, putting six of Teeling's most expressive whiskeys in the hands of drinkers from Belfast to Brisbane, proof that the uisce beatha has a way of dissolving borders when it's poured generously enough.

About This Event

This tasting includes 6 x 50ml Samples and will take place on the 25th @ 16:00.

This tasting comprises of:

  • Single Pot Still
  • Single Malt
  • Single Grain
  • Small Batch
  • Peated
  • Stout Cask

For those in the USA, Australia, Sweden, Europe, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, you will be able to save on delivery costs by having your package to sent to a localised depot for collection. You will be charged a small fee upon collection, but the cost will be much cheaper than having packs delivered to individual addresses. If you would like to avail of this option, please make a note in the Special Instructions box, and we will contact you at a later date to arrange this and refund your delivery charges.

Looking Back

When Teeling opened in the Liberties of Dublin in 2015, it carried the weight of over a century's absence on its shoulders — the first new whiskey distillery in the city since the Victorian era. That backstory gave Session 84 a particular warmth even before the first dram was poured. This wasn't just a tasting; it was a small act of cultural duchas, a living thread connecting the grand old tradition of Dublin distilling to something vital and contemporary. The six 50ml samples that landed through letterboxes on the 25th of July 2021 felt less like a product range and more like a manifesto.

The lineup itself told that story well. Attendees worked their way through Single Pot Still, Single Malt, and Single Grain expressions — three styles that together map the full breadth of what Irish whiskey can be. The Single Pot Still, in particular, carried that classic Irish character: creamy, spiced, unmistakably of its tradition. But Teeling is a distillery that pushes at edges, and the second half of the tasting made that plain. The Small Batch, finished in rum casks, brought a tropical softness that surprised first-timers. Then came the Peated expression, a gentle provocation from a category not generally known for smoke, and finally the Stout Cask finish — rich, roasted, and darkly satisfying — which drew audible appreciation in the live chat from participants across several time zones.

That global reach was part of what made BWW 2021 remarkable as a whole. The festival's postal tasting format opened the seanchas of Irish whiskey to enthusiasts in the USA, Australia, Sweden, and beyond, with localised depot collection options helping to keep costs manageable for participants further afield. Teeling's showcase sat comfortably alongside other headline sessions from the week — including the deeply considered Session 83: Bushmills History MasterClass, which traced a very different but equally compelling thread of Ulster distilling heritage, and the Session 22: Sexton Deconstruction Showcase, another southern voice in a week that celebrated the whole island's whiskey story.

What Teeling brought to BWW 2021 wasn't just a well-curated sample pack — it was a sensibility. The distillery pushes cask finishes and challenges received wisdom about what Irish whiskey can taste like, and that spirit of inquiry was exactly what a showcase format demands. Participants weren't passive; they were encouraged to compare, to question, to find their own footing across six very different expressions. By the Stout Cask, most had stopped taking notes and started simply enjoying themselves — which is, of course, the whole point. Sláinte to that.

If the Teeling Showcase has piqued your curiosity about the brand, you can explore their full collection on our site, or use the Whiskey Map to trace Teeling's place in the wider landscape of Irish distilling. Dublin's craft whiskey revolution is well worth following.
