On the evening of 31st July 2021, Belfast Whiskey Week turned its gaze southward to the heart of Dublin's Liberties, where Pearse Irish Whiskey has been quietly making a compelling case for itself as one of modern Ireland's most characterful distilleries. Session 4 was a Showcase event — six generous 50ml samples, a knowledgeable guide through the range, and the kind of unhurried appreciation that uisce beatha genuinely deserves. For those who showed up curious, they left considerably better informed.

About This Event

This tasting includes 6 x 50ml Samples and will take place on the 31st @ 18:00.

For those in the USA, Australia, Sweden, Europe, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, you will be able to save on delivery costs by having your package to sent to a localised depot for collection. You will be charged a small fee upon collection, but the cost will be much cheaper than having packs delivered to individual addresses. If you would like to avail of this option, please make a note in the Special Instructions box, and we will contact you at a later date to arrange this and refund your delivery charges.

Looking Back

The Pearse Lyons Distillery carries a story worth telling. Founded in tribute to Thomas Pearse Lyons — a man who moved from the streets of Dublin to build a global animal nutrition empire before turning his passion back toward Irish whiskey — the distillery sits within a beautifully restored church on James's Street, a stone's throw from the Guinness Storehouse and steeped in the layered seanchas of that ancient brewing and distilling quarter. That sense of place, of duchas, ran through every dram poured at Session 4.

Six samples gave attendees a proper cross-section of what Pearse Irish Whiskey does best. The brand is built around quality and accessibility in equal measure — there's no affectation here, no exclusionary mystique — and that philosophy was evident in how the evening unfolded. Whether you were a seasoned whiskey head or someone still finding your feet with Irish styles, the Showcase format offered room to breathe, to compare, to ask questions. It was, in the best sense, an education that didn't feel like one.

What distinguished Pearse's presence across BWW 2021 was an honesty about the craft. Their Past, Present & Future event theme speaks to a brand genuinely interested in where Irish whiskey has been and where it's heading — not simply trading on heritage, but actively contributing to its next chapter. That ambition came through in the liquid itself: approachable on entry, but with enough complexity to reward attention. If Session 4 left you wanting more, it was worth exploring some of the other fine Irish pours on offer that week, including the quietly iconic Sexton Deconstruction Showcase, which similarly rewarded those willing to look a little closer.

For many attending remotely — a hallmark of BWW 2021's hybrid spirit — the carefully packed sample sets made the experience genuinely intimate despite the distance. The festival's thoughtful logistics, offering depot collection across the USA, Australia, Sweden, Europe, and both jurisdictions on this island, meant that geography was no barrier to raising a glass with Belfast. Sláinte to that. And if this session sparked a broader curiosity about the Irish whiskey landscape, our Whiskey Map is always a fine place to start plotting the next adventure.

Session 4 was a reminder that the best showcase events don't just sell a brand — they illuminate it. Pearse Irish Whiskey earned its place in the BWW 2021 lineup not through spectacle, but through the quiet confidence of six very well-chosen drams.
